UNITED SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLIC
The Use of Force to Rule
Force: The application of coercion or the use of physical pressure.
Soviet Union is a good example for this criterion. This country has failed to rule its states by force and communist ideology. For over forty years USSR had become a very strong and frightening federation country in the world. This country had managed to be the super power along with the USA. The USA which imposes Democracy in its constitution is very different with its very rival; the USSR used force to rule its people.
In the fact that the regions of Eastern and Central Asia were harsh and difficult to be controlled and the nature of communism as the centralized power system made authority not to have any compromise with its people. The result of this system is desperation for every element of this country, except the government workers and army. People had no right to say about anything and they can only say “YES” word for every word from the government.
There were many riots in Moscow or any other big cities in the former Soviet Union; and it was easy for the government to stop them. The government would not say anything; they sent companies of army men and finished their job. No talk no compromise is the way the USSR dealt with its citizens.
When the country was about to implement some laws; every people of USSR would accept it without saying something or they would end up dead or imprison. When Stalin imposed the Force Labor Act in Siberia, many people really disagreed to it because it’s just the same with slavery, but they had no right to deny this act.
The conclusion is that force can be used effectively to rule people; but in the consequence people will desperate and have no right to say anything. This method will not make the country exist very long time because people are going to resist to get their independent from their government.
