Computer "Freeze" or "Hank" or doesn't go to next step while re-booting swap partition occur quite often. I also had the same case in installing Ubuntu 9.04. I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 before then I uninstalled it a year before. And when I tried to install Ubuntu 9.04, the installation never got done well, indeed, it didn't work.
I tried to figure out how to solve it; but I never found anything really "coo" to solve it. Then I got very frustrated and download Karmic Koala (Ubuntu 9.10), I was quite worried if it wouldn't work. But it worked, now I am enjoying Ubuntu 9.10! Have a try!
